In Tibetan iconography Mahakala has one head with three bulging eyes. He can have anywhere from two to six arms and his eyebrows are like fire, while his beard consists of various hooks framing his face. Mahakala has three eyes which symbolize the fact that he can see the past, the present, and the future. His crown is made from five skulls, and these five skulls represent our five weaknesses, anger, desire, jealousy, pride, and ignorance. This is a precious thangkha from Nepal. It is about 30 to 40 years old. This thangka is hand painted. The size of the thangka is 41 x 28 inches.
